I Believe
Last Saturday as I was driving around doing a lot of errands, a song by Diamond Rio came on the radio, and as I listened, I thought about my Dad and cried. The words helped me deal a little more with missing him. They touch on some true principles, such as eternal life, eternal family relationships, and eternal progression. I would change the word "ghosts" to "angels" (but then it wouldn't rhyme :) - as Elder Holland taught last October (see http://www.lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,23-1-947-10,00.html)
You can listen to it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4qPKc6_x2k
Here are the lyrics:
Every now and then soft as breath upon my skin
I feel you come back again
And it’s like you haven’t been gone a moment from my side,
Like the tears were never cried,
Like the hands of time were pulling you and me.
And with all my heart I’m sure
We’re closer than we ever were,
I don’t have to hear or see
I’ve got all the proof I need.
There are more than angels watching over me
I believe; Oh, I believe.
Now when you die and life goes on,
It doesn’t end here when you’re gone
Every soul has found a flight
It never ends if I’m right.
Our love can even reach across eternity.
I believe; Oh, I believe.
Forever you’re a part of me,
Forever in the heart of me,
I will hold you even longer if I can.
Oh the people, who don’t see the most,
See that I believe in ghosts.
If that makes me crazy then I am
'Cause I believe; Oh, I believe.
There are more than angels watching over me.
I believe; Oh, I believe.
Every now and then soft as breath upon my skin,
I feel you come back again
And I believe.

That is beautiful mom,
Thanks for sharing.
love you
Love you, Mom.
Thank you for sharing how that song touched you. It's one that I enjoy too, but I've never heard it that way before.
Incidentally, did you know that their keyboardist, Dan Truman, is LDS and a BYU graduate? You can read more about him here: http://www.peermusic.com/artistpage/Dan_Truman.html
Did you know that I used to play that song on the piano all the time? I wonder if I still have the music... Anyway, I love you!
