Come, Fill My Soul Today

The first thing I do when I work in the temple is attend a prayer meeting, where we receive training and instruction. All workers who arrive before the meeting sing hymns while they are waiting. The last hymn we sang yesterday was "O Love That Glorifies the Son" by Lorin F. Wheelwright (#295). It's beautiful, and as we sang the words touched me, reminding me of the immeasurable blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I want to share the message of this hymn with all who read this post, and hope these words bring you the joy they brought to me.

O love that glorifies the Son,
O love that says "Thy will be done"
Pure love whose spirit makes us one--
Come, fill my soul today;
Come, fill my soul today.

O love that binds our family,
O love that brings my heart to thee,
Pure love that lasts eternally--
Come, fill my soul today.
Come, fill my soul today.

O love that overcomes defeat,
O love that turns the bitter sweet,
Pure love that makes our lives complete--
Come, fill my soul today.
Come, fill my soul today.

O Lord, give me the will to mend;
O Lord, change me from foe to friend;
Dear Lord, sustain me to the end--
Come, fill my soul today.
Come, fill my soul today.

This is one of my favorite hymns! And I like that tradition of singing until the meeting starts- we didn't do that, but it sounds so reverent and nice. Love you!

Also one of my favorites...great minds must "sing" alike!! I imagine singing it in the temple would make the message all the more sweet. Thanks for sharing
