Winter Weather Advisory
This is what I woke up to this morning:
... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST FRIDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND MIXED PRECIPITATION...
RAIN THIS MORNING WILL MIX WITH AND CHANGE TO SNOW TONIGHT. RAIN... FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL MIX IN AT TIMES TONIGHT AS WELL. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND 1 INCH ARE EXPECTED IN THE VALLEYS... WITH UP TO 6 INCHES IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS. LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE NORTHWARD TODAY AND INTENSIFY TONIGHT.
ONCE AGAIN THE SNOW WILL BE WET AND HEAVY CAUSING DOWNED TREE LIMBS... TREES AND POWER LINES. ALSO... EASTERLY WINDS WITH THIS STORM WILL BE STRONG WITH GUSTS UP TO AROUND 35 MPH TONIGHT AND TOMORROW WHICH WILL LIKELY ADD TO THE POWER OUTAGES.
ALSO... THE WEIGHT OF THE WET SNOW ON ROOFS AND BUILDINGS MAY RESULT IN THE COLLAPSE OF SOME STRUCTURES.
It wouldn't be so bad if this weren't the third day in a row of lots of heavy, wet snow... Or if tomorrow's forecast wasn't for the exact same thing...
But there is ALWAYS a positive side. For instance, if you look more closely at the photo above, you'll see these gals:
All these photos are taken from the home we're living in. And I have NEVER seen geese anywhere near the house before. Maybe they're Canada geese and the weather made them think they're home.
And even more on the POSITIVE side - This is one of 2 neighbors who cleared our driveway and the road where the snowplow had left a barricade.
Aren't people grand?!

Oh that makes me so homesick. I don't think you and I ever minded a snow day, did we? All I remember is sleeping in, measuring the snow on the deck with a ruler, watching movies, and drinking LOTS and LOTS of hot chocolate. :)
ok, after reading Meg's comment, I am SO SO JEALOUS. We NEVER got a snow day. Although I'm not jealous of the snow. We have plenty here, thank you. I'm glad you have such nice neighbors who did you out of the blockades that the snow plows put up. What are you going to do about picking up dad tonight?
